Birthday Reflections

And a special gift for you...

This has been my birthday week (on Thursday to be precise). Birthdays always make me reflect on the passing of time and the sanctity of life. Some people are always complaining about growing older, yet birthdays should be a celebration of life! Tomorrow is never a given and every year around the sun is a blessing.

Gratitude

This year I am grateful for so many things. I also love being a January baby. It means that every year coincides with an age in my life. I like that. I also see my birthday as my own personal new year. A time for new beginnings and enthusiasm.

Time passes so quickly and it’s therefore so important to remember to be grateful and to savour every moment.

Rebirth

Last year was a year of releasing and letting go of the old for me. It was the solidifying of a rebirthing process that has been ongoing for some time. A homecoming. Coming back to self and stepping boldly into my authenticity and truth. This new year feels like it will be the beginning of me showing up more publicly after this rebirth and transformation has taken place.

One thing that I have learnt is that when you shed old parts of yourself and you level up into a new identity (identity shifting which this is often referred to), this is actually not a new identity as much as it is a homecoming to who you really are. When this happens within you what will usually take place externally is a crumbling process. This means that everything that is no longer in alignment with your new identity will fall away from your existence. Often this can happen suddenly and abruptly and can be deeply uncomfortable. This is a preparation for a new and better reality.

People, places and things that have kept you stuck in an inauthentic expression will be removed from your life whether you like it or not. In some cases it could also be instigated by you as you feel the pull to clean up your environment. This happened to me last year and what followed was further growth condensed into a very short amount of time.

I have done years worth of growth in the space of a few months because I had the courage to step away from the old. Some of it was taken away and the rest I removed. Freedom and growth takes courage.
