I think I fit in
In this quiet, sombre place

I think
I can bring
Myself to the surface

There’s a depth here
A yearning
The tides are finally turning

At last
I see
Who I came to be

Returning
To the fore
I feel it in the core

Of my being
Once more
What was lost before

Is burning
Within me
Stirring up a storm

I walk calmly by the shore
By the sudden quiet gap
Between the waves that lap

Breaking
Cracked open drop by drop
Like my heart 

It doesn’t stop
Beating
To the sounds

Repeating
Every sigh 
Rolling to the ground

I whisper to the wind
This treasure
That I hold so tightly 

In my chest
Is worth keeping
Forever
