Something Feels Different This Time
On quiet shifts, inner clarity, and moving differently
I’m not the same. Perhaps you feel it too. The subtle, yet undeniable shifts that have happened within you for the last few years.
As much as you sometimes may want to go back to how things used to be, you know you can’t. Why? Because you’ve changed too much. You’ve evolved. Expanded.
This is a good thing, even if it can make you feel like a fish out of water a lot of the time.
That’s the price to pay for growth and healing.
Shifting
I’ve been through a profound inner transformation for the last few years. I know I’m not alone in this. It’s like everything that was unconsciously weighing me down came to the surface all at once, so I could face it fully. That’s no easy feat.
Yet, what may feel heavy in the moment is only heavy because it’s being released. It’s passing through and being cleared out of your system.
Perhaps you felt lighter when you were running away from it, but if you are being honest with yourself, like I had to be, you will realise that what you have carried unconsciously has been a heavy weight to carry. Even when you pretended it wasn’t there, even when you weren’t consciously aware, it showed up in other ways.
Dense energy. Even if you are blissfully unaware, it will make itself known sooner or later. These things arise and come to the surface only when we are ready to fully face them and let them pass through us.
That’s the shift. Make no mistake.
What feels heavier and harder than ever is actually a release, a completion, a shedding. It’s setting you free.
Keep shifting.
It is when we are in transition that we are most completely alive.
- William Bridges
Seeing Clearly
In the midst of this process we begin to see things more clearly. The fog lifts. You see yourself more honestly than ever and with that, you see other people more clearly too.
Because the truth is, the deeper you go into yourself, your psyche, your patterns, your being, the more you can see what is unconsciously driving other people. You become an expert at spotting the unseen. What is operating beneath the surface.
This vision can be a gift, but it can also make you feel lonely. Why? Because you cannot name what you see. It’s not for me to reveal what I see in other people, even if it’s as clear as day. It’s for them to discover within themselves in their own timing.
All I can do is to focus on myself and perhaps function as some kind of mirror, reminding them and reflecting what’s true. People will often see what they are ready to see. Even if that keeps them where they are.
Focus on yourself and developing your own discernment.
This will serve you well.
The question is not what you look at, but what you see.
- Henry David Thoreau
Moving Differently
After this process of shifting and developing discernment, I have noticed that I move quite differently through the world in some ways.
There’s a new, fresh energy. It feels cleaner. More aligned. More effortless.
I notice it in the small ways of how I operate day to day. Calmer. Less attached to outcomes. More free.
There’s a recalibration and a reconnection to oneself.
And after a season of clearing out the old, I am realising even more than ever what is true to me. What has remained and what has evolved.
The shift is not something to be forced, but rather something to be allowed. Something to be experienced.
Something to move through. You cannot stand outside this process. You have to go deeply into it. Be in it. Let it do its work in you.
Just allow it. Even when it doesn’t make sense.
That’s when you know you are transcending and changing.
And once you’re in it, there’s no going back to the old you.
With this new way of being, who knows what could be possible!
That’s an exciting prospect.
I’m here cheering you on as always, whatever you are growing through.
Wishing you a blessed new week.

That’s the most truthful article I’ve read in a while, and lately more applicable than ever. You feel like you just want to escape everything but I’ve realised there’s a particularly futile form of exercise;
The one where you try to run away from yourself.
Life will find you again, when the time’s right, not necessarily by your definition of the right time unfortunately.
Thanks, Hege, for putting this into words so clearly. I think I have always, always been introspective and able to "read" situations and dare I say, people, fairly well, but there was ONE heavy weighty issue I carried along for decades without identifying it. Like you, I have recently but most definitely faced it, let it come up to the surface and go through and out of my system. It was hard, tough, sad and also made feel very, very angry at times, but what a release! Echoeing your words: I feel lighter and less attached to outcomes, calmer... and happier. Thanks again! All good vibes going your way.
