Can you be still? Really still? Listening to the depths and wisdom that resides within you? What if I told you that the ability to be still and spending time in silence and solitude will bring you all the answers you seek? Would you be willing to go there or are you scared of what you will find and need to confront in that stillness? You can avoid and deflect, yet you cannot transform and create what you desire from that place. Let’s take some time out to explore…
Resistance
If you have resistance towards spending time in stillness, there’s even more reason why you should do it. Resistance means there is something you are avoiding, something you are afraid of that lies just underneath the surface. It’s comfortably out of reach as long as you keep busy, distracted and occupied. If you lack clarity, peace or joy, start by finding out what you’re resisting and why. You will find the answers in stillness. It won’t be comfortable, but it will be worth it.
Restlessness
Restlessness is another expression of resistance. If I’m restless I know there are some feelings that need to be expressed. Our tendency is to find something to do when we are restless, yet what would happen if you just sat with it? Every single time I have forced myself to sit with my restlessness I have discovered a deeper reason and truth as to why I felt uneasy. Restlessness is a form of unease. I have learnt so much from slowing down amidst restlessness and listening deeply to what is causing it, what is actually going on internally with me in those moments that I haven’t been aware of or had access to. Next time you feel restless, challenge it and see what surfaces if you sit down and embrace stillness and meditation. What surfaces might surprise you.
Resilience
When you make it a habit to take time out to sit in stillness with yourself, listening deeply, you will build more resilience than you can possibly imagine. Nothing can shake or stir you. You find your centre, your truth, your balance. You begin to realise how everything is unfolding perfectly and you start to trust yourself more than ever. As you learn to regularly sit in stillness you become connected to yourself and you learn to listen to your higher knowing. Nothing beats being at peace with an inner glow of absolute trust in yourself. You find clarity and answers that have previously eluded you. Stillness makes you strong.

Residing in mountains and wading my way through dense woods coupled with working alongside pure and selfless souls have brought real stillness within me and I feel so empowered and graceful like never before. And the best part is that there are no traces of pseudo-ego, but only humility and gratitude in abundance. Great going, Hege.
I believe we are asked to do this EVERY! SINGLE! DAY!
The “stillness” goes through our soul and changes us (for the better).
For whatever reason, it’s seemingly a challenge many don’t take the time to do this.
