Excellent essay and much needed. For so long we’ve allowed the mentality of low standards, disguised as a form of freedom, to permeate every aspect of life. It’s not working for anyone.
Brilliantly thought through and written, Hege. I completely agree with you. There is work to do to turn this around and teach true empowerment. Brave piece. Well done.
Really nice message here Hege. I think we are living in a very scary world, and being a young person is so hard now because of all the societal pressure to fit in. Now, the person who stands out is the person who has more self-respect for themselves and is more selective with the people they meet with or sleep with. Social media is the biggest culprit of this, and I think COVID and the shift online made it even worse than it used to be. Not sure how it will change or develop, but most people aren't even aware how bad it is, and now it's been normalised. If I ever have children (and I do want kids), it will be a very difficult world they will enter. I wouldn't want to completley isolate them from reality, because this is reality now, but at the same time I would want to bring them up in a very specific/controlled way. Nice read here!
Thank you so much Stefano. I completely agree. It must be challenging raising children in today’s society. I agree with everything you’re saying here. Hopefully, we will start moving towards more healing and self-respect as a collective. Young people are particularly impressionable and vulnerable to these damaging trends
Ye you’re right Hege! I am not so confident that we are going to move in the right direction though. Just don’t see how it’s going to happen with all the toxic social media.
I still have hope Stefano. Social media might be dying a slow death as AI takes over. I believe young people are starting to crave real meaning again. At least I hope so ✨
You have real guts, Hege and you call spade a spade. Love your approach each time and every time. Kudos to your thought process.
Thank you so much Vineet. This may be my most controversial piece yet but the truth must out. Young women and girls deserve better. I appreciate you ✨
They certainly do, Hege, and I heartily appreciate the veritable torchbearers like you.

This is a brilliant read, Hege and I agree. We need to return to a sense of the sacred and to a full embodiment of self-respect.
Thank you so much Trudi. I appreciate you! ✨
Ditto, Hege ✨

Thank you Alison. I completely agree. Hopefully we can start moving in the right direction again
It was a hot summer. After lunch on my firm’s campus I chatted with my boss. He asked me whether we don’t have a dress code on-site.
Wish my daughter read this. So sad. Is this the woke virus? Thanks
I agree it’s very sad. I hope we will see change in this area

Thank you so much Francesca. There is definitely a lot of work to be done
